"Life has been a great adventure! Each adventure has challenged me to explore the visual world, share my expertise and attract interested attention to significant natural settings and environments.”
A semi-retired fine artist, illustrator, presenter and writer, Dianne has explored a wide variety of creative endeavours via an adventurous lifestyle with a focus on Western Canada’s wetlands, forests, craggy coasts and dry land interior.
"I've been creatively inspired by early family postings to Pachena Point lighthouse and central Caribou rangeland, with later adult years in Kaslo (resident artist at Langham Cultural Centre), Calgary where I was a participant in lively art projects at the Artists Workshop and achieved Honours Graduate Alberta College of Art & Design. Following a Hollyhock Retreat Centre watercolour workshop with Tony Onley on Cortes Island, I moved to the island for eighteen years of isolated grandeur and a full-time professional art career mesmerized by our West Coast islands and seascapes. Most recently, a seven-year ranch sojourn near Okanagan Falls provided a wonderful new world of dry land subjects with an opportunity to exhibit at Tumbleweed Gallery and present dozens of watercolour workshops. Since 2020 I’ve lived in Penticton where I’ve mentored other artists, become a Penticton tree advocate during a short term Artist in Residence at Leir House Cultural Centre. On return to my own studio I've responded to a number of successful commissions.
Throughout, a myriad of projects in the art and creative fields have taken me through illustration for Alberta Parks, exhibit design
for Parks Canada and food styling for a cookbook, from a Canada Council supported Explorations Grant project for a large public interactive landscape installation, to elected signature status in the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour & Federation of Canadian Artists (CSPWC & AFCA status now retired)."
