SOA

This phase of my artist career started about eight years ago, after a long hiatus between late teens and retirement. Currently I work only in acrylics, though I have tried watercolour, and would like to attempt oils someday soon. I paint mostly on canva-paper, and 1/8th inch MDF, mainly because I don’t know what to do with all the product, and those two “canvases” store easily.

As a retired wildlife biologist I paint a lot of wildlife, mostly birds, but anything in the environment that catches my eye is fair game. I would have to say I’m still in the realism phase of my efforts. I paint with a small number of colours (after spending a small fortune on a large range of same), and I find the challenge of mixing the right colour and getting the lighting correct of most interest. Painting doesn’t seem to be something I have to do, but it is an interesting hobby, and has certainly allowed me to cover most of the wall space in our house.
